This is the photograph this girl chose from her proofs. She must think it looks good, and isn't some kind of wardrobe malfunction - it's what she intended.
BTW, how did the news station get wind of this? Did the student contact them? Another dummy looking for her 15 minutes of fame.
Probably, or her mother.
Our yearbook pics had to be head shot only, and have a certain specified background. This wouldn't even have been an issue. It would have been an automatic no. Maybe the school should have just cropped it.
Hmm, you're right. All of the yearbook pics I've seen (my own, my husband's, and all of my exchange students') have been headshots only. I had several poses when i had my senior pictures done, but only the headshot one could go in the yearbook.
Honestly? I'd publish it. It isn't indecent, it's silly. Let the girl live with it. Twenty years from now, she'll get the urge to look through her yearbook and cringe.
Uh, no...The photo illustrates (albeit in a small way) society's degradation. I'm not a prude by any strech, but high standards should be set for young women while in high school; otherwise, many will go out into the world and only get worse.
Rules are rules, whether or not you agree with them. Not sure why some people think they are above the rules, then cause a fuss when they are called out.
She was told she needed to choose a different picture for submission. The correct response should have been 'ok,' not get the media involved.
Years later, I'd be thankful they requested a different picrure.
I haven't read through anyone else's reply but REALLY? why would she want a photo of herself with part of her bra/breast hanging out?
I wouldn't call it inappropriate, because she IS covered up, but it looks like an ugly mistake taken at the wrong moment in a photo of a pretty young girl.
I don't see a problem with it as far as decency is concerns. Tacky and really not a good picture, yes. But not indecent. Now I can see how an editor wouldn't want it in there on tackiness grounds because they want to do a quality product.

I don't think it is across the board inappropriate, but there is a time and place for everything. The time and place for bralettes and tank tops is a concert or club, not a school yearbook. I guess I'm an old prude!
And now, instead of maybe 200 people at her high school seeing it, thousands of random people on the internet have.
