I'm saying that being friends with someone in college isn't predictive of anything outside of college.

Nowhere else are you allowed to be so whiny all the time.

So being happy about someone working out with their personality in college should temper their expectations.

I would be concerned and desperately hope she doesn't get pregnant.

I know a girl like this and she had all guy friends too in high school, college, and even now that she's an adult and working a good job, she goes on camping trips with all guys and she's the only girl. Her friends have always looked a bit shady to me and if I were her mom, I wouldn't trust them. But what can you do? You can't ban her from having those friends. How would you enforce it?

But fortunately, she wasn't the sleeping around type and she never got pregnant or assaulted. She now is almost 30 years old, has a boyfriend, and is about to have her first baby. So at least she got it right in terms of knowing not to sleep around.

Yes and no. Yes because no straight teenage boy is interested in girls as strictly platonic friends. Guys will play the friend role for years just for a chance to get to the panties later.

No because males are generally easier to get along with.

I would argue that if a guy fulfills the role of a great friend for years, he should have earned the chance to at least ask to be in a relationship with the girl later.

It also depends how attractive the girl is.

With lots of girls available, no one waits years for the chance of dating an ugly girl.

I can only tell you that when I was her age I had more guy friends also. I had girlfriends, but not as many. I used to hang around the neighborhood with about 4-5 boys, because there were more of them than girls. We had so much fun talking and hanging out, and it was totally innocent. I remember my father saying that it just didn’t look good....I’d probably feel the same way, but I treasure the memory of those friendships.

My daughter was like the but it wasn't totally innocent, she was boy crazy from an early age and there was usually one guy or another she had her eye on. She's never found herself in a bad situation and I tell her all the time how lucky she's been with the guys in her life considering how many there have been! LOL!.
