I could see that as a possible early stage date for two childless people. I know I did an aquarium date with another childless person at one point in the past.

[quote=seain dublin;51192897]What sad times we live in.

What a ridiculous comment, I would have replied "the only thing weird is what you just said".[/QUOTE

Agree. I'm an animal lover so if I'm in a city with a cool zoo or aquarium, I'm going. By myself.

So are they saying, We don't like animals but will go to take the kids.

I wonder if the co-worker was just making a dig at the OP about not having kids? Because it is such an odd thing to say. In most big zoos, they even have things that aren't appealing to children and are geared towards adults without kids.

Why would it be weird? I think it was fun going with my DH before we had kids. It's a lot of walking for exercise and we are animal lovers! Lincoln Park Zoo is in the heart of downtown Chicago so many adults go there that don't have kids. Now that we do have kids we go even more, but NO the Zoo is NOT just for kids!

My husband and I had a membership to a big zoo before we had kids. It’s perfectly fine and normal to do that. I think your coworker is the weirdo.

I once had someone express disbelief that I celebrated Easter with my husband, before we had kids. I told him that we had dinner at a friend's house and hid eggs for their kids outdoors.

Holidays are for everyone.

Your co-worker thinks like a pedophile.

Go to the zoo.

We once had two small zoos in my town. One, on a wooded ridge, had elk and deer and another, in a riverside park, had bears and birds. I never saw a bear, because they were always inside a concrete cave. Only the smell was evidence of their existence. Then, on two occasions, when heavy snow required a 4-wheeled vehicle to go into the park with the elk, two of them were shot and butchered in their enclosures.

Due to these incidents and a growing enlightenment among the people, that caused opposition to keeping animals in cages, both zoos were closed. In fact, zoos are nothing but prisons for animals. The inmates have committed no crimes; they are confined just because of what they are and live in sadness and despair. Nothing about their true, natural lives can be observed when they're in cages, any more than you could learn about people, by visiting a penitentiary. If you think that it's fun to go to a zoo, imagine how enjoyable it is for those that never get to leave, at closing time. How people treat animals, gives some clues about how much regard they will show, for other groups of humans.
