The same virtual psychology degree that everyone else here on C-D pretends to have when doling out advice.

If Dad dies, there will be a funeral and all that to get through. There will be plenty of time, stretching out for years, to discuss this.
As long as it is discussed at some point and not swept under the rug.

That's what I figured. That's why you should not be giving out advice, especially using a suicide of a beloved grandparent for a "teachable moment", an educational jargon term.

These are funny: https://www.urbandictionary.com/defi...hable%20moment

This is more serious, but interesting: https://www.verywellfamily.com/what-...oments-2086537
"Havighurt comments that learning cannot occur unless the timing is right that has made its way into the modern definition of the term. What is overlooked is that he says that it is essential to repeat the information so that when a child is developmentally ready, he cann benefit from whatever you are teaching him."
Emphasis mine, typo (cann) not.
Maybe someone with some education in developmental psychology could make the determination when it is developmentally appropriate with the specific child.

There seems to be a lot of that going on right now, on several forums.
