I'm not raising my girls to think it's okay for their significant others to beat them and denigrate them like in the good ole days. My bad. Consider them uppity.
Many parents now raise their kids to think they are the center of the universe, because to the parents, they are. Will this be a problem in the future? It already is a problem. Yes it will get worse. will it be the end of the world? No. People who think they are the center of the world can even become president and have tens of millions of people think they are doing a great job.
kids are also being raised more often to consider a wider band of other people/actions/lifestyles acceptable. Although it does not seem to have had a positive impact on things like school bullying and ostracizing which seems to be getting worse.
Is that better or worse than prior generations? For me, most parents basically ignored their kids, at least by today's standards. We turned out OK, but then we raised kids on a pedestal. The are more socially and environmentally conscious than I remember my generation being. We were mostly about working hard and making a lot of money. In some ways today's kids have better values and in some worse (personally I think may important good values are being lost or at least downplayed). It seems like a lot more kids are crippled by anxiety, depression etc. Those were always around, but it did not seem to render as many people non-functional or barely functional as now. Young people also seem even more confused and uncertain of their purpose, or direction, and even confused about things like their gender and sexuality than prior generations. Again this always existed to some extent, but nothing like today. But, is that related to how we raised them or it is something in water, or food, or anti-antiperspirant, or whatever? I do not think anyone knows.
Yes some of the changes in raising kids will make the world different. Whether that different is worse, better or neither depends on your prospective.
