Sorry to hear that happened to your daughter. If they are "undocumented" or committed other crimes, odds are they wont serve as long as 15-30 years ago. The deterrent for physical assault crimes has been dramatically reduced. You must stay alert nowadays.

I think women have always been violent, it's just not noticed as much. And men who are violent, are more likely to get longer prison sentences than women. Many people have difficulty noticing female violence or doing anything about it. Even police sometimes will not take female violence seriously. Especially in situations where the victim of the violent female is a man. I think it's only been recently that shelters started offering any services to men who were battered by their spouse. One man told me the police laughed at him when he told them about his wife beating him.
