Why not just be forthright and tell him that others may find it offensive? (Which is 100% true).

LOL. for the longest time my special-needs kid thought it was the index finger.

I pretended to be shocked so that he would use that instead. He eventually figured it out. Dang it!

Wait until you overhear your ten yr old son and his friends discussing which of their classmates is 'hot' because they are getting 'boobies'!
I don't see a parents job is shielding as much as it is about helping them navigate all these new experiences that come from being exposed to the wider world. You can't keep them at home and innocent forever.

"Boobies" at 10 years old? That can't be right. Unless there's something in the food supply nowadays, I don't remember seeing 10-year-old girls "developed". 12 or 13, sure. Besides, when you're 10, the opposite sex still has cooties, so I doubt 10-year-old boys would be talking about girls' breasts.

Why do people question another's experience? Yes a group of fifth grade boys were on an overnight field trip and didn't realize I was close enough to overhear them as they settled in for the night. Some of that talk was probably just machismo, but many children do have some sexual awareness or curiosity at that age.
"The time when puberty begins varies greatly among individuals; however, puberty usually occurs in girls between the ages of 10 and 14 and between the ages of 12 and 16 in boys."

Everyone develops physically and mentally at a different age. I am a male, and when I was 10 years old I was most certainly beginning to take an interest in sex. I can very clearly remember beginning to try and act on these feelings in the privacy of my bedroom.

When I was 10, girls still had cooties. When I was 12, on the other hand... can you say "scrambled channel"?

I don’t know where you live but some 10 yr old girls are definitely beginning to develop.

10 Yr old girls may start to develop breast buds at that time. Just a little bump below the nipple that may cause them to be noticeable under a t-shirt. That's most likely whats happening.
