Is a fitness instructor and eats healthy so not too worried any issues with her health. With all her boyfriends, not being on the pill, and not really using other protection how did she not get pregnant until she was 41? Also her current boyfriend and the father is only 28. He is thrilled though and wants to marry her. I would think a 28 year old would want to spend his life with someone close or his age but what do I know. Your thoughts on all this. I just really hope it’s a happy healthy baby.
She's probably a top tier 41 year old. She can attract younger men. For the short to medium term, it is understandable. Longer term, that is a more questionable proposition. I think you certainly have reasons to wonder if they can last 18 years together.

It does seem to defy the odds that she did not get pregnant until 41.

Most women can carry healthy babies until 40. The 40-44 age range is more questionable, but given that she's quite healthy, there's a good chance her baby will be healthy.

Not to be a wet blanket but. . .

The mom will be 42 when she delivers. Her chances of having a child with Down Syndrome are 1 in 70. That's slightly higher than at age 41 (1 in 80). It does not matter if she is healthy or whatever. It's a genetic thing. Down Syndrome can be diagnosed during pregnancy and a decision made at that time.

As for as the relationship, there are no guarantees no matter what! The difference in their ages isn't *that* great, and if the guy were 41 and the woman 28, no one would have a second thought.

Odds are everything will be fine. And no one would say much of anything of a 28 yr old woman with a 41 yr old man. So just be happy for them.

Why do you care? Nosey. Why not just ask a doctor? It's just weird you have so much interest in something that doesn't concern you....

Nope. Not even. Gold digger is poor marries rich, with at least a 20 year difference, and more often 30 years or more. Money not mentioned here, the difference is only 13 years.

Tons of women have babies in their early 40s , and the babies are fine, mothers too. Be happy for them!

A close friend of mine was 27 when he married a 41-year-old woman, and they had a healthy boy.

She already had two teenage boys from her first marriage, both very troubled. One started running with a crime gang, and is permanently estranged from the family. The other has mental illness and continues to live with them in his 40s, unable to hold down a job; just an unpleasant dead weight.

The boy she had in her 40s, however, turned out fine.

The couple have stayed together for 30+ years now.

I guess it's all about genetics, health, and personality. Traditionally, people got married and made babies a lot younger. But with modern medicine, and a more youthful attitude, certainly your friend's situation is workable.

Those eggs are pretty close to their "sell-by" date. I hope all goes well.

I wish her the best of luck and that the baby is healthy. That being said I would have been extremely upset if I had found out I was pregnant at 41. No way no how would I have wanted a baby at that age but everyone is different and if she is happy you should be happy for her.
