Welp.

Back when I was 21 years old I had gone to get a vasectomy because I knew, that I would never have / want children. I got the all clear both at 3 months and 1 year.

Things went really well and there were no problems.

That was 13 years ago.

I have since moved on to marry the love of my life, who I knew would some day want a child and I would have to get a reversal if we were to stay together.

After a TON of thought and self reflection, I decided that I would be okay with this and we agreed on a "one and done" approach complete with a re-snip.

Of course 13 years of never having problems, I've never even thought to consider such a small chance of recanalization. That is exactly a 0.15% chance.

As of yesterday, my wife is lighting up tests like a Christmas tree. We have a prenatal exam scheduled for tomorrow (21 days late).

Guys, I never saw this coming. Not in a million years. There are a couple of positive takeaways from this though.

1. I'm glad this is with the woman that I want to be with for the rest of my life
2. I'm glad that this failure did NOT occur with my last relationships
3. I'm glad that I would not need to get a reversal in the future, and that I can simply redo the vasectomy.

This is some epic mix of emotions that are super hard to swallow for me.
