Also, have grandma plate food at dinner if possible, and not serve dinner family style. When her plate is empty, she's done, or grandma can serve her seconds, in an appropriate amount, and not just let her eat everything she feels like until she's sick. 9 year olds may not have very good decision making skills, that's what parents and grands are for.

For what it's worth, I've done that as a kid (and definitely several times as an adult!).

I've always been very slim (partially due to being a lifelong athlete), and even today I'm a 33 yr old male weighing 145 lbs at 5' 10".

I just love food. And I eat really healthy. I'll be having grilled salmon and brown rice, then decide to have seconds, and then decide some sushi sounds, and on and on.

I can recall *many* times as a kid where I would eat to the point of physical discomfort, eventually leading to nausea and/or vomiting. No idea why, it's just something I would do sometimes if I really loved the taste of the food I was eating.
