Each birth experience is different and every woman handles labor differently. The experience and quality of your medical provider plays a very important role and they are not all created equal. I would never let one my doctor's partner deliver (too emotional, loud and prone to panic - according to my nursing sources) and others.

I did away with my gyno from the 80's after my son was born because you never knew which Dr you'd get out of 4 or 6.
