My 6 year old drinks only water and milk. Occasionally has soda if hes out. But at home he drinks water and milk. He drinks a lot of milk though, Im going broke buying milk haha
I always have my kids drink water. We never had soda in the house. Now my middle schooler wants soda once in awhile. I am fine with it, she probably could benefit from the extra calories because she is at the low end of her weight percentile.
Thanks for the reminder. When I took a class in nutrition I learned that you can be dehydrated and not feel thirst... seems counterintuitive... but I realized this happens to me all the time! I love coffee too much Switching to a cup of hot water is great and works really well.. if I build a habit of it...
We didn't keep pop/soda in the house when the kids were little, but they both had the 6-8 oz milk-based coffee drinks from early ages (8+) since we went to coffee shops several times a week. Both of them settled on chai as their go-to drink in their teens.

Same goes for my 17 year old. He's dropped down to the 15%. I don't regulate the sweets with him at all anymore.

Who would have thought water was good for you.
My kids, now grown and grands now basically grown, got mostly water and milk. I grew up with soda being for special occasions, so that was just natural for me.
My kids bring their water bottles with them everywhere. They drink a lot of water and milk, but my son does like gatorade and juices. We don't drink soda or have it in the house.
I have teenage stepsons. Imagine my slight annoyance at having to go back to the store Sunday night because they drank a gallon of milk in less than a day. Ugh, my kid already drinks a gallon a week.
I used to babysit a young child while her mother worked, and her mother thanked me because her child finally started drinking water instead of always the juice the child insisted on from her mother.
I called it Adams Ale...and so did the little ones after awhile.
