I stopped when I was 17 I had a sister 8 yrs younger than me so I always dressed up and went with her. I also look younger than I am, so at the time I probably passed for a 13 yr old.
In my neighborhood there are always teenagers trick-or-treating. I think it's fine and enjoy seeing the kids' costumes at all ages. Personally I think once you hit 16 or 17, it's time to stop trick-or-treating.
depends on the kids, they'll tell you. Mine stopped when it wasn't cool anymore at about age 12, and when they had no desire anymore for free candy. They were never big candy eaters anyway so it was never that big a deal to them. They'd eat a few pieces and then give the rest away or let it get stale.
By the time they were about 10 they wanted the least amount of work to put into the costume, so they would generally dress in all black and get a really scary rubber monster mask.
I have 3 boys, and they left the house to go in our neighborhood, and they saw some little tiny kids who started crying because they were so scary, and one of my sons (who has a very tender heart) refused to go trick or treating after that if it was going to make the little kids cry. I thought that was very sweet. His 2 brothers went that year and shared their candy with him. I thought that was sweet also.
i stopped myself at about age 11, but then a few years later just for a lark at about age 15 my best friend and i went one year just on our street as a two-headed ghost under a white sheet. That was fun but i felt sort of silly.
I stopped at 17, but Im still tempted to do it again...
I dressed as a cowgirl ( just some jeans, a red shirt and a cowboy hat) and took the dog with me as my "hoss". I even made up a saddle out of construction paper for him. lol
