My son went to school today and I called the headmaster to inform him of the updates...
The young man continued to call the young lady all weekend and her parents had a chat with his parents, but I am unsure what transpired from that conversation. This information was given to my son via the young lady.
My son also told me the headmaster was making random "drop ins" during class and sitting behind or next to the boy in question.
Thanks guys! I'll keep you posted...hopefully we will have an uneventful week!
Please take this boy seriously. When I was 16, I had a boyfriend whose best friend exhibited this kind of behavior. He would cry and say that nobody loves him and he wanted to either kill his parents or die. I didn't tell ANYBODY and regret it every day. About a year later, after I had lost contact with him, he did end up paying someone to kill his parents. That was a lesson that was burned into me. Always take someone seriously, better to be safe than sorry.
<So, here's my question to you all...do I call the mother again? Do I call the headmaster again? Do I call my friend again? I do not want to seem like a drama queen by calling but I would also hate for anything to happen to this young man....do you think this will trigger a crazy outburst against my son, his friend and our family? >
So fastforward to this afternoon...the kid was trying to talk to my son today and said he had been in a mental institution and was diagnosed bipolar and had violent outbursts!
He also said he had been cutting himself last night and had hoped to kill himself last night but his parents made him sleep in their room since I called them...
I would contact the mother again. She needs to know as much as she can about her son. It certainly sounds like he needs additional assistance from someone or his medication needs to be monitored more closely.
I also think the school needs to be kept informed of this situation.
Someone needs to find out if he has a gun/s.
I consider this appropriate concern and in fact wonder why others don't seem to be responding more dramatically?
I agree with this post 100%. These are kids in big bodies, they need our help. You have way too much information not to say anything; and don't be afraid of being a drama queen, this is way too serious.
