I have an almost 3 year old boy and I have always given him sugar, like cookies and suckers on Saturdays only( my parents did that to me and my sister when we grew up ). The rest of the week he eats home cooked meals only, and no sugar drinks or unhealthy snacks.
I have my child care lady kind of looking at me funny because apparently her kids get candy and cookies whenever they done something good.
Am I unusual or what?

Different things work for different families. I think you're fine as long as you're not extreme in either direction - kids who are over-sugared obviously will have health/wellness issues while kids who are never allowed anything sweet/"unhealth" are likely to rebel at some point and the whole thing could backfire. Balance in all things usually works best. Do what works for your family regardless of what your daycare provider believes.

There is no one right way. If the kids are healthy and happy and the parents are healthy and happy the little things will work themselves out.

My daughter has less sugar than I did as a kid...but she still has some. Juice, maple candy, and now she's discovered taffy...but all in moderation. She is just as likely to reach for a child-friendly yogurt drink (less sugar!), carrot slivers or a low sodium V-8.
