My 6yr took his usual post school nap today, but when he awoke I noticed his hair was sopping wet! Like I had poured a bucket of water on it! He didn't sweat from anywhere else. No fever. Seems just fine otherwise. Wonder if this means anything? Why would you sweat out your scalp and nowhere else?

My daughter has always sweated profusely about the head (wet hair) when she became tired, as did the other children from her orphanage. At five she still does this.
It was something we were previously unaware of - don't remember any of my friends' children doing this, but when I mentioned it to my Pediatrician, she said that her child also sweats around nap-time. No concerns.

My daughter did the same thing when she was younger. She always woke up with wet hair. She's biracial and has very thick, very curly hair that would be wet when she got up from naps. Even as late as last year she would wake up with wet hair from time to time.

My son also wakes up with a sweaty head sometimes. I remember that happening to me when I was a kid, if I took a nap during the day. I think it's normal.

I don't think it's much to be concerned about in itself. Just keep an eye out....

all my kids, and lots of toddlers and babies I knew, get really hot heads when they sleep.
Wake up red and sweaty.
No big deal.
