I remember being about 20 and going to a festival type rock concert, and seeing people there with their babies. I thought it was ridiculous and worried about the child's hearing. I now have 2 kids, ages 3 and 5. I am wondering if it is safe to take them to a rock concert at an out door amphitheater, if we sit in the back and they wear ear plugs. I don't really like leaving them with a sitter, and I think we could all have fun together. Opinions?
My kids have gone to concerts outdoor ones. They love them. They are 4 and 6. First one went at age 1.
Depending on the music and the venue, I think it should be fine if its a festival-type deal if you can put up with them for that long. I remember when my mother dragged my brother and I off to Country Fest one year and we hated it! It was hot and crowded and everything was so expensive so my mother wouldn't let us buy lunch or anything and we were generally miserable.
Plus, you have to take into consideration the other concert-goers. Most of the "outdoor" type of concerts I've been to there were a lot of very rowdy, very drunk people, as well as very stoned-out-of-their-minds people who'd stand right behind you smoking pot and other drugs.
I'm with mm_mary73 on this: hire a sitter.
