WTH is a 10 y.o. doing at a tanning salon? My 18 y.o. goes occasionally over my strong objections. At 10, a parent would have to sign a release. Who does that? Why does a 10 y.o. "need" a tan?
Let's see...look at Mom...Mom has a very fake tan...10 year old wanted to try it - out of curiosity? Quote. And Mom thought this was a good idea? Mom is scaring me, BTW.
Ridiculous that a 10 yr old would be at a tanning salon. My 15yr old wants to go and I tell her no way, people that tan regularly look like leather belts after a few tears.

Why does anyone "need" a tan?
That was the first thing I noticed too....but geez, there are any number of things I might do as an adult (tanning salon - no) that I wouldn't allow or encourage my 10 yo to do. Where is this woman's brain?
Meh, I don't really care if a mom allows her kid to get a tan. I do care very much that the salon was so careless as to let a customer get hurt. I have very fair skin and have never "fake baked" (I have gotten spray-on tans, though), but if I did, I would be in there for literally only a few minutes. Pale, freckly skin would probably only get about three minutes in the bed.
Ultimately, a parent is in charge/responsible of their child, not a business. (yes it was negligent on their part). You dont let your 2 year old eat a piece of candy and then blame the manufacturer when they choke.
Sorry, I would never take my daughter to a tanning salon! She can get her "tan" the old fashioned way - - - playing outside!!
Many people with pale skin get "base tans" or "starter tans" before summer starts, in order to get a little color and avoid all the Casper jokes, and then they wear sunblock outside to avoid sunburns.
It's not something I would do, but I don't find this to be a big deal. It's not like she got breast implants, sheesh.
