This isn't a religious thread.
The USA is a Freedom of Religion nation, as such people are free to tease a religion they may not necessarily believe in, as you may tease some of the older religions like Zeus and Odin worshippers. In today's world they look silly (Greek Gods), but why does it make it ok to tease THEM, just because the religion you like is the popular one at the moment?
A 1000 years it'll be something else.
Sheltering your kids from tv for the express goal of not having them hear people teasing the gods in question isn't going to do them any service. In the end they will choose to believe whatever they want to beleive and watch what they want to watch (even if at a friends house) regadless of what mom tries to hide from them. In fact keeping them from something that everyone's all into that they hear about all the time may make them that much more determined to watch it anyway.
Unless you lock them in the basement for 30 years, you can't hide the world from your kids. Forcing them to only be exposed to your ideals is not fair. They have a right to be exposed to everything, learn about everything and given the chance to choose their own path in life, not just what you want them to do.
Sometimes what people see as making fun of, is just somebody else's point of view of something.
Sorry for the rant. Thats a sore spot for me

I have no idea if you are a Christian, but I tell you this. If you study about Disney, you may find out some shocking things.
I guess we can supply links to websites for informational purposes?
This link is NOT to my website.

I believe it is too late.
Americans have been pumped with perversions over television and now the internet for decades now.
The seeds have been sown and are bearing fruit.
This generation will NOT hold to the old fashioned Bible. The Word of God has been made a mockery on television for decades now.
If I were you, I would keep all broadcast television from your child.
You do as you see fit, but as for Me and My house, we will NOT ever, ever have a broadcast station hooked to our tv again. Only DVDs that we screen.
Now we spend more time together doing fun things, reading, talking. We go hiking and such.
I say you are doing the right thing.
