I don't understand how they got exploitation out of that, the pictures weren't sold for money, posted on sites, etc.

If they want to charge exploitation, charge Good Hosekeeping, Womens Day, etc, for running pics of half naked kids in ads to sell their diapers, etc

It seems to me, it was pretty innocent that the lady in the story of the link that the OP mentioned, just wanted pictures for memories ect and that it was taken out of proportion.

Myself, I never took naked pictures of my child in the tub ect. I personally just always felt uncomfortable being at people's houses and being shown naked baby and child pictures of them in the tub, with people around all cooing. "awwww how cute" It always grossed me out. I don't think their is anything cute about it. I think baby's and kids look much cuter in pics with adorable outfits on.

I don't think that children should be photographed with their bits sticking out, let alone taking that film and having who knows what kind of person is going to look through them while developing the film. At least if someone is going to do that, be smart enough and use your own digital cam so the world does not need to see their kids privates.

That's just how I feel. Maybe I am just uptight and easily grossed out.

I have professionally taken naked baby photos on our wall, framed and matted.

Which means that, in the mall, in plain view, we stripped our babies naked, posed them, and took photos.

They are adorable. And anyone who sees sexuality in them is projecting their own insecurities.

In our family we have tons of these photos. None are suggestive in any way. When a story comes out that is obviously insane eventually I find something critical has been left out intentionally or because of bad reporting. A while back a woman was arrested for "innocent bath photos". Turns out they weren't so innocent. In fact they were very suggestive. Has anyone seen these photos or heard a description?

I don't know..this made me stop and think and unless I see the pictures I have some doubts in my mind. The link in this article doesn't state the fact that in the pictures the girls genitalia was exposed. And the older girls were ages 4 and 5. Somewhere I think a line may have been crossed, even if it was only a common sense or bad judgement call for these parents.

I have many bathtub pictures but none of them at that age show my daughters genitalia in them.

How many bathtub pictures does Walmart process daily??? Many, I bet...so why were these pictures singled out??

Then the police were called, they didn't laugh it off, they called CPS, who didn't laugh it off either, they in turn removed the children from the home...for a month...

All these adults involved in this case couldn't see that it was completely innocent??? There is where I have doubts.. If anything, I think these parents lack some common sense.

It's the effect of bureaucracy on human behavior.

Basically, the bureaucracy allows every human to pass along responsibility to someone else. In this case, Walmart passed it to the cops. The cops "just do their job", and pass it along to CPS. CPS "just does their job" and investigates, then passes it to a judge, who is the only person in this chain of process actually told to make reasonable judgments.

No one, no where, was empowered or willing to say, "Waitaminute. This is ridiculous. Drop it." It's *easy* to pass responsibility on to someone else, even if it means tearing a family apart. The process removes the human element, compassion, and reason in favor of the process.

Or perhaps the pictures raised red flags and a few eyebrows.

And for petes sake, I wouldn't be taking suggestive pictures of my 4 and 5 year olds where their genitalia is exposed..

Amazing. It seems child services has forgotten it's mission of protecting children against REAL abuse.

Last year our school superintendent called child services to report that a teacher was having sleepovers with two of his students. She had spoken to the teacher and sent him a written warning, but he refused to stop. The teacher's union prevented her from firing him because "there was no proof that any abuse was taking place." Her goal was to have child services help her get the proof she needed to fire him.

Less than a month later she got a letter from the head of the child services investigations unit saying that, based on her complaint, there wasn't enough evidence to warrant an investigation.

Two weeks ago, the two little boys who were having the sleepovers with their teacher told a relative they had been abused sexually, exposed to pornography and smoked pot with the teacher for the past three years. The teacher was arrested and confessed to most of the crimes, although he later pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.

It's unbelievable that the sleepovers weren't a good enough reason for this pervert to be investigated. Yet, photos of kids in a bathtub were enough to have kids taken away.

Good for you.

Now, is that because you think pictures of naked kids are sexually suggestive, or because some idiot at Wal-mart might call the cops on you?

here is the one released by the lawyer - if it makes it to court, all pictures are going to be shown

Moderator cut: image removed

also the pictures that htey say drew ire from the local articles it wasn't full on genitalia shots - however, it was being able to see some butt

I went on a canoe trip with my uncle and some of his buddies when I was 6 - about half way through I had to take a "#1" - they took an action shot of me watering the shrubs on the side of the river with my life vest still on ............ that damn picture is still floating around out there, but anyone who finds something exploitive, abusive or sexual in it has issues of their own
