GLASGOW, Scotland, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- A Scotland city council regulation says a parent must escort children under 16 years old to the washroom in places such as restaurants.
The Glasgow rule requires parents to accompany their children everywhere within a licensed establishment, which arguably would mean that, for example, a teenage boy would have to go to the women's restroom with his mother, The Sunday Times of London said.
I don't think it's nuts in light of the girl being sexually molested in a mall (women's) bathroom by a MAN who was already in the women's rest room (obviously) waiting for a victim.

We have a friend who is absolutely paranoid about this. She makes her 12y.o. daughter wear goodnights pullups whenever they go out to places like restaunts or the shopping mall. She never lets her daughter use public restrooms. ever. There are only a few places like school and particular friends houses where she lets the daughter be on her own. Every where else the mother goes with the daughter and she always drives her daughter, dropes her off and picks her up. The daughter is not even allowed to walk along the foot path unless there is an adult walking right there with her.

Your friend needs therapy, she sounds mentally off balance!! Making a 12 year old wear pull-ups to the mall....

Well then everyone ought to have an escort because full grown women get assaulted too.
Look, every crime can't be prevented and making laws aiming to do so is ridiculous. Why don't we just have open bathrooms so no one can hide and wait for victims? That would work.

I'm sorry but not allowing a grown child to use the bathroom and making them go on themselves, diaper or not, is borderline child abuse! Not to mention this poor girl is probably already menstruating. Ugh. Well her mother is going to be in for a very rude awakening in a couple of years, it's always the most sheltered ones that rebel the hardest.
Back to the whole bathroom thing, that law is a little ridiculous and I doubt places will be working hard to enforce it but i'm sure if something happens they will use this law to wash their hands of any responsibility to the victim.
I try to use common sense, rest stop, play ground or store bathroom I always go with my 12 year old step daughter. You never know who is in there waiting for someone to be alone. My son is still too young to go alone so I always go with him but I suspect he'll be going to the ladies room for a good long while. I also LOOOOOOVE that most places have family bathrooms now, seriously what are fathers supposed to do when they go out with their daughters??!?!?

I understand some may not like what I say but women's bathrooms have doors on them. I wouldn't be opposed to a Father bringing in his young daughter to use the bathroom in the ladies room.
I'm a Dad with two daughters. I take them into the Men's room with me, into a stall, where I usually very loudly complain about the animals who were in there before and peed all over the seat while I wipe it down.
Also, both my daughters (kindergarten and second grade) can go to the women's restroom by themselves, if they choose. I will be outside the door listening, and if they need help, they can scream and I'll be in there in a second.
I usually try to leave the family bathrooms for people with infants that need the changing table.
There was a 10 yr old boy sexually assaulted where we used to live in a walmart bathroom. I take my two sons with me (5 and 6 yo) and I don't give a flip what other parents think. I don't happen to agree with them leaving their 4 yo outside to walk the street either without supervision. Different parenting styles that I don't want to even get into with others. I shake my head at them and I'm sure they do at me.
I DO think there is a happy medium to this. A 16 yo should be able to go to the restroom themselves, you can't prevent every little thing. Having the govt regulate something like this is absurd no matter what.
