My husband and I both work full time.
My question is my 4 year old dd is starting school and what happens if she's outta school during summer time?
what do parents do??? i'm sure i can't take the whole summer off to stay home and be with my dd.
she's in daycare now and will be starting pre-k in sept. 2010.
i'm such a worryer...
the pre-k runs full time and i don't know what other parents do when kids are outta school during summertime.
pre-K runs enough hours during the school year so that you can work, but they don't have a summer program? That seems odd. As far as I know, the before and after school care at the public schools here also runs during the summer. I thought that was the norm. Check with parents in your community and find out what they do. There has to be someone out there who has been in your shoes.
Why wouldn't she be in daycare, then, if she's in daycare now? Pre-K is typically only a two-hour program anyway, unless it's pre-k in the morning then daycare in the afternoon, so maybe they have a summer program?
Your best bet is to ask friends and neighbors with kids, as to what is available in your area. Here, they have a summer program through the schools. If your current provider keeps their older kids, you should be good for the summer after pre-K. That will give you more time to find out what is available.
i think the OP means that right now the child is in pre k and it runs throughout the year, but what do parents do once the kids are in regular school...
