My 13 YO GD and I were shopping at World Market looking for something for her to bring to an English high tea that she was having in one of her classes next week. While there I saw a can of Spotted Dick, something that I had read about on CD. We started laughing about it and I bought it to use as a gag gift.

Today, the following was left on my VM:

Hello, Magnolia, this is Mrs. Jones. I was calling to talk to you about Debbie. She brought in a can of Spotted Dick sponge pudding today, which I realize is a real product, imported from England. But, what she did was that she came into the classroom and promoted it to everyone, including her teacher, she wanted Mrs. Smith to know what she brought in for lunch today.......

I had to meet with both the principal and the headmaster. The teacher confiscated the can and had taken it to the office. The poor principal thought that it really WAS her lunch and so she had taken it out of the can and heated it for her.

No, my GD should not have taken it in to school. And I can't help but think about all of those kids going home and telling their parents... but it was so hard to keep a straight face when I was talking to her about it when I picked her up from school.

I guess the rocky mountain oyster sandwich is out for her lunch tomorrow.

Sounds like the teacher was more upset about the way the daughter was flaunting it around and making a big deal about the word being on the can.

I can understand why the teacher might have wanted to mention the daughter's behavior to the parents, but she didn't need to get the principal involved.

Since the principal ate it, the OP should tell the principal that she owes her a Spotted Dick.

I can imagine what they thought of you when she told them that you gave it to her. You'll just have to live with it.

You know, I'm thinking this will probably be the funniest "issue" that Principal will ever to deal with.
