Exactly...simply "trespassing" isn't enough - even in Texas . And by leaving the situation to go get his gun, it negates any defense of "immediate" danger....
Personally, I don't care what the laws are or anything else about it. I just think it's funny that the guy just continued with what he was doing after getting caught by someone who was clearly not happy about them being in his garage.
Is anyone else creeped out by the 71 year old father being jealous and controlling of his 40-year old daughter? This one just smells wrong to me.
Oh yes. I passed the article along to a few friends with a note that it sounded to me as if there was something unsavory about this man's relationship with his daughter.
Remember what was printed in the paper is also someone's interpretation of what actually happened. I think most homeowners can properly articulate the fact that they felt the boyfriend was trying to attack the man's daughter and he did what he had to in order to protect her. The sick part is that some in this forum are implying the old guy has some kind of perverted fascination with his daughter. I get that it may not be common. (How do you know the daughter is the one the father is taking care of due to some disability or other reason?) I also agree she should have her own place, but we don't have the whole picture to fully make the call.
I see nothing wrong with the father's actions. He set the rules and they decided not to live by them. The father shoots a cap in the boyfriend and the boyfriend runs like a little girl and cries to the cops. Take your punnishment like a man and get your own place in the future. Sometimes old school education is the best education.
Jeez dude, maybe you should ease up on the saltpeter. Your not supposed to smoke the gunpowder.
