So...you're 30, still living at home and complaining about your parents and you can't figure out that the answer is to move out? Maybe all that binge drinking really did have an affect on you....
Then you should be grateful for the help, not whining about it. That's the difference between a child and an adult. I honestly thought you were 18-20 based on your posts.
i give them a third of my salary every month, to contribute to the house.
i don't know if i should give them any more than that though. i reckon it's my money and my ultimate right to determine how it's spent.

Sounds like complaining to me...and again, how are you 30 and not understand what "actual cost" of living with someone is? It's not only a portion of the rent/mortgage, but also utilities (gas, electric, cable, internet, phone), food etc. That is also assuming you are paying your own transportation, insurance, etc. It is NOT your parents job to support you. If they are willing to allow you to continue to live there (for whatever reason) it is not unreasonable for them to ask for "actual cost" of living expenses. If you think they are asking too much then you can either find a less expensive way to put a roof over your head or speak to them about it. It doesn't sound like you are willing to do either. If you have no less expensive option, then you really aren't in a position to complain about how expensive it is are you?
maciesmom - you're beating a dead horse here... or a deadbeat, if you prefer.
