Hi,
I need to buy my 5 year old a booster seat. He's currently in a Britax Wizard convertable seat (with side wings next to his ears...sounds weird, I know). The label says he can stay in this seat until he's 60 pounds but he's tall for his age and it seems kind of small for him. He's not anywhere near 60 pounds.
Anyone know of a comparable booster seat? Price is not an issue.
Thanks!

You could get the Britax Regent. That one goes up to 80 lb.

I think they usually outgrow seats by height before weight, so that's not unusual that he outgrew the Wizard by height.

You could ask at Car Seat.Org - Carseat, Vehicle & Child Passenger Safety Forums as they know everything about car seats! You'll get all good suggestions there!

If price is not an issue, I highly recommend the Britax Regent. I have my 5-1/2 yr old in it and he has PLENTY of room to grow. (I would have gotten the Wizard but my son absolutely hated the "wings" when we tried the seat in the store).

Default Re: booster seat opinions?

I have a brother who is tall for his age, but very lightweight. In Virginia you have to stay in a car seat until age 8, but we bought a Graco highback booster seat with detachable back. He still fits in it & he just turned 8. I can highly recommend this carseat because it also has held up beautifully.

graco nautilus has a five point harness then converts to a booster with a back and then finally to a backless booster...my 5 year old is big and he fits in it and it has the added protection of the five point harness.

I second this one....even though this thread is like 2 years old now.

The Nautilus can be had for $150 or less.

I have a regent as well, though be sure to check and make sure it will fit in your car, as it does NOT fit in all car types as it is a large carseat.

^indeed. This class of car seat is enourmous! In some cars it takes up half the back seat. Converts your rear seat from a 3 passenger to a 2 passenger.

Default Car Seat Opinions

I prefer this brand of carseat for older children. My son used this seat Baby - Britax Frontier 85 Combination Booster Car Seat, Rushmore

and we were very pleased with it. So pleased that we bought one again when our Daughter was ready for a booster. Both our children were on the tall side for their ages and this seat seemed to be perfect for them. It was very comfortable and easy to secure in the car.
