I would like to thank everyone for the input. Ultimately you have to do what feels right, to you. What feels right to me right now with my son's attitude of owing him and knowing a thank you wouldn't even be part of it, is to forgo the Junior Prom unless he finds a way himself to get what he needs. Considering he has known for months, he could already have had the money or at least part of it. His new job, if he gets it won't be until June which still gives him time to find something else. Again, thank you.
Some gutless person left a nasty message for me and I'd like to know who it is.
Wasn't me, but I can understand why it happened I'm afraid - you do seem to end up arguing in most threads you are on, or haven't you noticed? Funny thing is, I actually agree with you many times on the issues discussed - just not your approach to the people you are posting to. Just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth.
My son told his gf last night about no prom. I think he was doing it for her because her high school doesn't have jr. prom. He might even be relieved but in the dog house with her for a day. On to the next crisis.

There's always next year when Prom really matters
I don't know if you've had college discussions with your son yet, but many juniors are researching their options right now and it might be a good time to seek the advise of a college counselor on financial packages/options. That way you won't be surprised this fall.

Good point - having those college discussions now will help everybody in their family to know what the expectations are for getting college paid for
We have had more than college discussions. We have already visited four colleges with one more Sat. Thanks.
