I am curious to know if all these posters who are so frantically seeking advice on where in PA to move (say, in the last 18 months or so) have actually moved here--how about that family from NYC? What about all the people from Seattle, CA, NJ, NY, and FL who keep posting that they are moving soon. What about Linds (Linds009?) who I think is here in Johnstown this week looking at places--any luck? Where did you pick and how do you like it?
Enquiring minds want to know...or, at least I do.

Many people reads the good publicity about Pennsylvania being warm and friendly and cheaper to live than other area's of the country and they believe the hype.

When in fact, there are not that many jobs here and it is just as hard, if not harder to find a job here than elsewhere. The Biggest thing is probably that the groceries and some of the stores are cheaper here than in the big cities, but although the cost of living is lower - so is the wages.

I tried 3 times to move to Charlotte NC to get a job and find a place to live and each time I came home - because the living conditions were no better there then here. I actually told one employer that I would rather live in Pennsylvania and starve a little at a time then move to Charlotte and starve all at once.

I would bet that most of those people are just blowing smoke and looking for a better deal. When in fact, a flower has to bloom where it is planted.

I don't believe that people are "blowing smoke"--I think they sincerely want to move. Many people do make successful moves--I have lived very happily in AK, VA and WY, been perfectly content in NY and CO, and have lived very unhappily in KY, TN, and FL.
Maybe they got a divorce and couldn't afford to move. Maybe their car broke down and they are struggling with bills right now. Maybe they just didn't want to leave their friends. Or, maybe they moved here and don't need to talk about it anymore.
Anyway, the question remains--did you make the move? how was it? where did you pick and why?
