you can get alot of "house" for your money. compared to say philly. example: my house: 4 bdrms, 3 baths, split level house, back deck, decent sized yard (one that you would rather use a riding mower for cuase otherwise it owuld be a pain) was $180k. that was 7 years ago and the house was only 4 years old. there are lots of really nice houses that are under $300k.
