I am looking to relocate somewhere within an hour or so of Littlestown. Job moves around a lot but main shop is in Littlestown. Right now we live near State College. My boyfriend makes the three and a half hour trip every weekend to come home and I'm tired of being lonely all week. We may start off renting until we know the area better to buy a permanent home. Have an 8 year old son so any info on good schools would be helpful. We all enjoy the country. Don't want to live right in town but nearby would be fine. I am an artist currently working in retail. Hoping to move to a town where I can persue my art. Maybe open a small shop or something someday. Please help me find a friendly town.

I like York a lot. It is really on the rise! It is actually getting to be a big city. The schools are phenominal! They are like little mansions. I have family in Dover and Red Lion which are a quick drive to both York and Harrisburg and Maryland as well. They are all are pretty centrally located.

Hanover is a nice area and has the most going on without going to york.

Gettysburg can get really bad during tourist season, and if you move there i recommend doing it in october so you can learn the back streets for when June comes around. There is a serious expansion in housing in the 200-250K market so they can make a killing by advertising to the maryland market.
Any decent shopping is located in Hanover which is a 30 minute drive, unless you consider the overpriced outlets an option.

I grew up in Gettysburg, it's a nice place if you don't mind not having much to do and few places to shop.
