I am still collecting my original 26 weeks of unemployment in Pennsylvania. It will expire after the original deadline of March 09. With the new stimulus plan will I be eligible for an extension. I've been trying to find an answer and it seems like the latest is that PA has to approve taking the federal money and it comes with changes to unemployment which may cost the state more money. Is this true? Are there any specific PA websites that could give me an update on the state's decision?

I'm in NJ but you still have EUC (extended unemployment benefits) after your initial 26 weeks, don't you? This was from Bush last July and Nov. It should be 13 +7wks for Tier 1, and if PA was over 6% 3 mos in a row, another 13 wks for Tier 2. Pa has to be trigger on. It looks to me like PA is triggered on

Emergency Unemployment Compensation Trigger Notice Report

Now the new stimulus we are trying to figure out. That is called EB (extended benefits) and something different.

No, I just missed the cutoff. The last you can file for extension under the old act passed by Bush is the end of March. My regullar benefits run out April 10 so I missed that one by 10 days and so far it doesn't seem like PA has agreed to do this new extension from the stimulus plan.

Oh, I see. The new stimulus extended the extension deadlines to Dec 09. I assumed that it was an automatic thing as far as the deadline extensions. I know that any more extensions(EB) is another story. That $ucks missing it like that. It's crazy the way this works. I was lucky and the dates fell right for me. I just started Tier 2, well good luck to you. You never know, things change for the better.

The EUC is not part of Obama's stimulus package !! Obama's stimulus gives you an extra $25.00 a week, soon to go into affect !! The past extended benefits were either from the federal gov. or the state. My suggestion for anyone who may think they are not eligible, apply !! You never know !!

Check Penn DOL WEB to see the cutoff date. You are close and 1 week from the new extension goes on Tier II. 13 wks for tier III and by State, 6 wks for tier IV. You must start the new tier in 2009 to finish in 2010.

I started collecting unemployment on June 28, 2009. I have been informed that as of January 3, 2010 I will no longer be able to collect . Is this true and if it is what alternatives do I have ?
