Are they're
SAFE areas to live in if my salary is between $30 to $35K/year that has at least "some" public transportation where I'll be accepted and with friendly people?
I'm a middle 40's straight single man who'll be renting a 1 bedroom or a studio apartment and perhaps sharing.
Any input will be greatly appreciated!

You might have better luck on the Philadelphia forum. I have actually lived in all three counties that you are looking at but we lived in either a townhouse or a single family home for all three.
