Hi, Can anyone help? My husband's work is relocating him to Montgomeryville from the UK, we would like to know where we should be looking to live that is nice for a young family, we have 3 boys under 4 so schools and parks are important. Thanks.

Heres a few nice areas to start. This is generally a very rural area, lots of green space. Its starting to grow pretty quickly , good schools, friendly people, nice quality of life.

Very rural?? Valley Forge, Skippack, North Wales, Doylestown?? Routes 202 and 309,? Goodness, those are all areas that we fled from because of traffic, fast growing schools and overpopulation. I would say that there are some semi-rural areas but if you can't go ten minutes without hitting a major highway, it's not rural. I was down in Montgomeryville last week and was so stressed out afterwards from the drive that I couldn't wait to get home. Yes, there are some very nice pretty areas but very rural? I think not.

rainrock has picked areas that are all within 20-30 minutes max drive to montgomeryville. they are developed areas and are considered rural not urban like city living. Traffic is bad where ever you live in PA and since your husband will be working in montgomeryville you'll have to deal with it. An excellent option is to rent for a year and get a better feel for the areas so you can choose the best for you. However if you want to buy and schools are the most important thing than let your realtor know that and they will point you to the best school districts, based on the price of homes you are looking for.

Thanks everyone - at the moment the traffic 'problem' is not something I am too concerned about as we currently live on a main route and have heavy traffic passing our front door 24/7. I have looked at a few realtor sites and there are a lot of properties in Lansdale - does anyone know what this area is like?

lansdale is a very nice area, my girlfriend lives in north wales and is from lansdale, her parents still live there. I also own a rental home in north wales. the area is very nice safe, good schools. good prices for homes, the homes are not on top of each other, usually have a decent piece of ground around them. there's really on 2 or 3 main roads so most of the housing is in quieter areas. The area is strong so the properties appreciate and normal to high levels.

I suppose everything is relative. 309, Montgomeryville, Skippack, Blue Bell,Valley Forge,Gwenyd is rural to me considering I cut my teeth down on 95,rt #1, the blue route,rt# 30, 202 area.
I have a suspicion MrsUK may have the same opinion once she experiences Montgomery County.

gotcha rainrock. We have lived in Delaware, Montgomery and Chester County in Pennsylvania before moving to Lehigh County. If you are used to the city and I-95(etc.) traffic then all the places you mentioned are going to be slower paced. It would be fun to see what rural means to different people.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST ( Lititz ) Kissel Hill Elem specifically . The teachers are outstanding , loving,caring,respecting . All 3 of our chidren went there ( actually I did too ) Our youngest has 2 more years there. There are many parks in the area also. Close to malls,grocery,restaurants,movies,airport,plus whatever else that you can make it . Good Luck!!
