I find your NJ story so cute. Interesting too.......
I grew up in NJ. My parents, children, family all were there. My brother came to Pa first, then my parent, my family, and then one of my daughters and her family. Then extended family..........So here we are!!
I loved NJ when I was small, and things were less of a hassle, less traffic, less homes. But, NJ now is just full.....packed full.
What I liked about Pa was that I was going to get my huge home on wonderful land for a good price. That thought excited me........
What I have grown to love is that we have so, so, many open spaces. Homes can be on an acre, or two or 5......whatever. Not that one on top of each other feeling. There is peacefulness here........that was not possiable in NJ.
I liked the mountains, the state parks, the many things to do and places to go. I have been to more concerts, and more fairs, and park events in this state. They have more art shows and town events then I can remember back home. Like the church event at Christmas, where we enter each and every one for a service.
Believe me I took a family of very sophisticated girls with me. Who didn't want to leave their NJ roots.
It only took a bit of time for them to enjoy their surroundings.........
At first it was " mom, its too dark up here....no street light" and " the stores close too early"..( they don't so much now)
They have told me they wouldn't want to go back and live there now.
It only takes a little while..........and this state grows on you........no matter what were called.
