Hello, I have been working in Mohnton for about 4 months and need to make a move from Virginia. I would appreciate anyone who could give me some good numbers on maverage monthly utility cost in SHillington. YOu know like water, sewage, heating, electric. I have already seen the taxes and am confused a little on why they are so high on newer houses and low on older houses that are close to the same selling cost. For example the a year old 200K house has close to 6k a year taxes attached to it. It seems like alot. Where does it go ?
Any and all input will be gratly appreciated.

Majority of taxes will go to school districts. Taxes are paid 2x year, larger one in summer and smaller in Spring. You could call the utility companies and ask for estimates based on housing situations (square foot etc.) Water and sewer company would give you the same estimate. The newer houses may actually be in a different township or municipality, whereas the older ones in a borough or as a part of Reading. PA is very confusing to say the least.
