I am planning on relocating to Erie,PA and I was wondering about a safe area to rent an apartment.

I was just there for an on-site interview and the area that I drove around looked very shady....

Please advice on which area would be nice and safe for me and my wife. I will be working for GE and my wife will be going to school at Gannon..

If you could also point out the name of some Cities or even apartment complexes I will really appreciate it

Thank you

If it is still called this, I would avoid University Park Apts... even though they are nice and new, it is filled with college students.

I don't live in Erie, but I would avoid moving anywhere near the Circle K. From what I've seen on the news, it seems like a Circle K in Erie has been robbed many times in the past few years.

That's some great, specific help, how many Circle K's are there?

There are a lot of great apartment/town home/condo complexes off of West 38th on the border of the City of Erie and Milcreek Township. Probably around ten miles from GE, but ten miles shouldn't be anything to worry about. Close to lots of great things, including Asbury Woods, which is a great nature center and park with playground and lots of trails to explore.

i can't advise you on apartments having never rented in/around Erie, but I second the person who said Millcreek/Harborcreek/anything in Erie south of 38th st. Personally, given where you're working, I'd suggest Harborcreek of the three. I think there's some apartments on East Lake Rd.

I think you'd be better off finding a house to rent though. I can't imagine the rent is very high, considering you can buy a decent 1950s style home in Erie for abt 100K.

actually i forgot, one of my friends did live in the apartments at the Boston Store and she liked it there; i was never actually inside so I can't attest to their quality. She only moved out to the suburbs b/c she didn't want her daughter growing up in the city school system.

There are 5 Circle Ks within Erie. Most are in the west side of the city. I'm not familiar with Erie's crime geography, so does the west side tend to have more or less crime than the east side?
