There are many excellent builders in Lancaster. Recently there has been an influx of "national building companies" but I have not heard good things about them. The local building companies, though, are very good, and many of them are award winning. Is there anything in particular you are looking for?
Here is a link to the Lancaster BIA (Building Industry Association):

Same as they are everywhere.. I would suggest not trying to find the lowest price possible when shopping for a builder you will regret it in the end.

Thank you both for your help. If either of you can give me anymore info, it is greatly appreciated. We had our home built here in fl where we currently are & it was a nightmare. I can't even believe we're thinking of doing it again. Hopefully PA is different.

I haven't had any work done by them, but I haven't heard anything negative either. I think they have a pretty good reputation.

Our house was built by Berks Homes. The minor issues we had were quickly resolved.

I'm not from Lancaster County nor am I from Pennsylvania. My admonition however: stay clear of the "nationals" i.e. Toll, Hovnanian, etc. Look for the custom builder who builds only a handfull of homes each year. You'll be more satisfied in the long run.

I am from Lancaster CountyBEWARE of Aspen they are either run or in part supervised by a Dennis Kegris who has an abominablepast record in doing this sort or work as well as his other ventures.Take a look at his Sandy Hill Auto Sales and his 'hardwood flooring' ventureHe did jail time for his auto sales for not submitting taxes and suchHe also owes others for work not completed as welland you can look at some of the problems in court records as well
