We are relocating to the SH area and do not want to purchase a house. We will only be there for 2-3 years.
I have checked Zillow, Rentalhouses.com, Rent570, and Prudential. According to these websites, there is nothing to rent in the area that is suitable for a large family.
Is there a local rental management company that may not be on the web?
If it turns out that the area is not good for house rentals, what options would we have?

TIA (thanks in advance)

edited: Forgot to mention that we have an RV. We could stay in that if there is a good National Park or Corp of Engineers Park. I realize we couldn't do that during the winter months, but maybe that info would help someone make a suggestion for us.

I grew up in Hamburg, a few miles south of Schuylkill Haven. I don't really have any great advice, but don't know that there are that many people here from Schuylkill County to offer advice.

It's a pretty small town - like 5,000 people. Not terribly surprising you can't find anything with a quick search online. Where are you moving from? If not far away, you'd probably do good to drive around the town a little bit looking for phone numbers.

Pottsville is not far away, and has a large enough population that you might find things online easier. Or even find a property management that also does business in SH.

Try doing searches through the local newspapers' classified ads for rentals in Schuylkill Haven, nearby Orwigsburg, and other small towns in that area.

Their local newspaper is The Republican Herald (link).

Thank you both.
I checked Pottsville, and the paper.
I am not close enough to come for a visit. I would need to fly in for several days, and that isn't feasible right now.

So, I take it that there aren't any National Parks nearby?

I'm not aware of any national parks up that way - although, like I said, it's not quite my forte. I grew up in Berks County, just over the county border from Schuylkill. There are a few state parks in Schuylkill County. I've been to none of them, and have no idea if they are near Schuylkill Haven or what kind of spaces they provide people.

try Nutmeg Properties Inc. They have the nicest apartments in Schuylkill County. They are in Schuylkill Haven, PA. They are clean, nice , well taken care of and the owners are very nice. I think they are the only modern apartment buildings in Schuylkill Haven. I lived there for a year while building my home and it was great! I think they have a web site, it may be nutmegproperties.com ???

If you have kids, you might want to look into homes in the Pottsville or Blue Mountain school districts. Also, rentals are tough to find, but word of mouth and the newspaper are probably your best bet. There are state and local parks that are nice, like Locust Lake, Tuscarora, Sweet Arrow Lake, etc.

I grew up in the area. It's not the nicest looking and it's economically depressed, but I still think it was a great place to grow up!
