Although "hiking" is generic and can be found anywhere, there are a few bizarre or unique treasures that are unique to our state. I can't believe nobody has mentioned Centralia yet.

Centralia, Pennsylvania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also noteworthy is the Abandoned Turnpike. The PA Turnpike helped pave the way -- literally -- for our modern-day Interstate system. It was using "futuristic" concepts like banked turns and limited access decades before the rest of the country. In 1966, several segments were bypassed due to severe congestion. Now 18 miles of it sit abandoned, ready for visitors.

And then there's Concrete City: Concrete City | floor9.com (http://floor9.com/2008/03/31/concrete-city/ - broken link)

Concrete City was the coal region's response to a period trend of building better houses for company workers. Though company housing was nothing new, Concrete City reflected an attempt to use then-state-of-the-art techniques to build vastly improved housing. It's like a 1911 version of today's planned communities and suburban sprawl.

Sorry, but Soho, The Guggenheim and Ellis Island are in New York, not Pennsylvania.
