Hi all. Am wondering what the Berkshire heights section of Reading is like. We are thinking of moving to the Reading area and am interested in a safe, nice and good schools area. Thanks

Smile A real neighborhood

I think Berkshire Heights is great! It is a tucked away neighborhood edged partway by a highway and a busy commercial street - North Park Road. But the heart of Berkshire Heights is an established middle class neighborhood with mature shady trees and lovely brick homes and sidewalks made for strolls after dinner. Kids can walk to the neighborhood elementary school and a terrific huge playground, but you are a 2 minute drive to the Berkshire Mall or VF Factory Outlet complex or restaurants on North Park Road.

I have friends who live here and they love it. It's a quiet spot with hubbub nearby. Note: even though this is Wyomissing, the school district is Wilson Schools. Both good schools. Wilson is larger/Wyomissing is smaller with all the plusses and minuses that come with size. The homes have character; nothing new being built for decades. Lots of older people who've lived here for ages passing on so there is some turnover, but this is a very stable neighborhood.
