Greetings Pennsylvanians and others,
I would like to thank anyone who can help me with this question in advance. My son's employer is sending him to Shillington PA. for training next week and we just found out. Would anyone know of inexpensive over-night accomadations within a reasonable drives area of Shillington? We are searching for information on the internet, but sometimes people have better inside information than the information highway, so thought I would give it a try. From what I have read about this town it sounds like a lovely place. Again, I thank you for any help in this matter.

Shillington is a nice place to live. There are new houses being built and the older houses are post WW II. The only thing I don't like is the fact that they have only two policepersons on duty and if someone breaks into your house or car it will take them at least 20 minutes to respond. There are too few police for the population. It's the folks who make Reading dangerous who come out here and break into our houses. They steal to take things back to Reading to sell for drugs. Getting a good night's sleep can be difficult if you have anything worth taking in your house or apartment. Another thing to watch is water in your basement. Since the rebuilding of Rt. 222 a lot of houses are down hill from the hills built to revamp Rt 222 and loads of us now live down hill from not only rain but poor drainage and drainage coming from new houses being built on the hills created to make the new Rt 222. So, if you are looking to buy, be sure you go after a rain and see if there are signs of water or mold in the basement. Try to stay in an area that is not down hill from public drainage.

reading is pretty krappy downtown but I would say that mt. penn and out in any direction is fine and good...and honestly if you stayed in a nice hotel in reading you'd be fine. i would suggest not paying for anything in town until you see it for yourself....there are plenty of really cheap places on 422 if your looking ultra budget. u could even go so far as pottstown east and it would only be a 20 minute drive no traffic period.

Wyomissing has maybe 4 or 5 motels and/or inns and has plenty of eateries and places to kill time, shopping or whatever. That's right next to Shillington, at most maybe 10 minutes away.
