Here in Allentown it's called Center City.

It seems everyone calls it that as well.

Yes. Talk to old-school multi-generational Lebanon Countyans and you'll hear the tahn thing. "how now brown cow" would be pronounced as "hah nah brahn cah". I only learned Pittsburgh had the same thing a few years ago and was actually disappointed as my home town became slightly less unique.

Doesn't Lancaster use Center City?

Some of my neighbors ... and myself ... sometimes stubbornly cling to describe as where we live as "West Philly" even though we live in the 'gentrified' eastern part of West Philadelphia near the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University area known as "University City." It's a reverse-snob thing. A neighbor of mine calls himself "just a workin' guy living in West Philly" (He's an architect making a 6-figure income living in a three story 7 bedroom immaculately restored Victorian house worth more than 3/4 of a million dollars).

Wow, I'd LOVE to see pictures of that house! It makes me VERY happy when I see beautiful Victorian houses (and other eras, as well) with good bones that are lovingly brought "back to life". Mr. Clark Park, I'm looking at YOU and your lovely Victorian home.

This is a tad off-topic for this thread, but I'm going to post links to a website I found online...it belongs to a couple who totally renovated their Victorian home.

Check out this gorgeous wallpaper:

Grew up near Reading.

I swear that there are references to a "Center City" Reading --- on city signs, or businesses, or something. Perhaps it never took among residents, but I really feel like I recognize seeing the term Center City applied to Reading.

I believe in Bethlehem it's called "downtown." Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you for posting the website for Craig and Yvonne's gorgeous Victorian house. I was drooling over the pictures ... the house is so elegant.

A wee bit off topic, but who cares?

I can only say that I have a nicer crystal chandelier in my dining room than Craig and Yvonne:

I just went back and looked at Craig and Yvonne's dining room. Yep, I'm sure they would be drooling over your lovely chandelier. A whole lotta drooling goin' on between your pictures...and their pictures. I have NEVER seen such beautiful wallpaper as the design(s) in their parlor. <Insert "drool" icon here.>

I just may take this Victorian home discussion over to the City-Data Interior Decorating forum. Keep your eyes open...and be prepared to share YOUR pics.

69th street's got a ton. Really all of Upper Darby does. I've heard that Barbacoa place is really good, too, though I'm more of a "cheap place to get food" kind of guy. Give me a decent Chinese food joint or pizza place that sells more than pizza and I'm a happy man.
