Your question makes no sense. We ARE Pennsylvania!

If I were to compare PA with surrounding states, I feel we have more in common with New York and West Virginia. We have a little bit of the WV Appalachian feel, and a lot of the upstate New York post-industrial feel. I personally don't find that OH and PA have many similarities in terms of scenery or built environment. Steubenville does look a lot like a mini-Pittsburgh, though.

In order of similarity

1. New York
2. Maryland
3. West Virginia
4. New Jersey
5. Ohio
6. Delaware

Well, I'm not sure what you mean either, but Baltimore reminds me of a mini-Philly, so there's that.

Anyway, Pennsylvania is one big, beautiful state. I remember reading that someone who had biked across the country said Pennsylvania had the most consistently beautiful scenery of any state along his trek.

PA is a much more beautiful state than either of them IMHO

Really depends where. Extreme SE PA has far more in common with Northern Delaware (and especially South Jersey) than the rest of the state, whereas the far Southwestern corner fits in pretty seamlessly with bordering West Virginia and the Poconos blend into upstate NY (see a pattern here?)

On an overall basis though, Ohio probably is our closest peer as far as population, size, and demographics go.

Well, I feel like PA, not somewhere else...but if I have to I'd agree with alleghenyangel: more like NY and WV.

It's over a five hour drive west to even reach Pittsburgh from here in Allentown located in Eastern PA.
The eastern terminus of the Lehigh Valley is Phillipsburg NJ which also encompasses Allentown to the west.

We are 60 miles north of Philly and 90 miles West of New York City.

Here in this area we have many influences from New York City in food, attitude and migration.

Philadelphia is close enough to Allentown to have influence as well concerning the things I listed concerning NYC.

We have nothing in common with Ohio.
