My daughters and I are planning to move from New York City to Pennsylvania. We live in a nice, quiet, peaceful area here in New York and don't want to move somewhere where we'll be unhappy. My girls and I are looking for a racially mixed area, suburban preferred, where we can garden and live peacefully. Also an area where there are jobs, I'm a teacher, my oldest is a Historian and my youngest is finishing up her Bachelor degree in Management of Information Systems. Does anyone know peaceful place we can move? I was looking at York but I hear they aren't very tolerant of African Americans and I don't want somewhere we won't enjoy good quality of life.

New Oxford is a very nice area, it's a small town just north of Hanover and 10 miles east of Gettysburg.

The first town that popped into my head was Lewisburg.

Lewisburg PA : Discover Lewisburg Pennsylvania

But I don't know how firm you are with living near York.
