I have been reseacrhing Lancaster & York County for about a month now. Sometimes people tell me York County is the better place to raise a family, then at other times i hear Lancaster County.

Can everybody please give me their opinion, plus mainly could you name some safe Towns in both Lancaster County & York to raise a family?

We will be traveling to Long Island pretty often, thats one reason i'm leaning more towards Lancaster.

Please Help

Thanks -- Tony

You should really forget the idea of York County. Too many problems with the funding of so many different police, fire responders that hteir waaay understaffed as it is. Rising population in York City/county from Balto and th D.C. commuters has strained resources. Lancaster County has a lot mor revenue generated to better support their police, fir, etc., except that, to a native Illinoisan, it seems strange to have so many volunteer fire depts. They can arrive to water down the ashes of your home/business, but that is common to all PA. I've been in the Harrisburg (Dauphin County) area since 1978, and some of the towns in Lanc. County that impress regarding safety, schools, access are: Ephrata, Leola, Lititz, East Petersburg and the region generally in the north of the County. The access to the PA Turnpike, Harrisburg or PHLA Intl Airports to get to NYC is easy. Hope you have a great time looking around as my family did..

Default Please Help - Safe areas in Lancaster County.

A huge thank you to JiminPa for your post. But so many people viewed this post, yet nobody has posted a thing.

Please help, I'm looking to relocate to Lancaster County, Can you please recommend a clean , safe good area in that county to raise a family, and of course in a safe school district. Our price range is around 250-265,000 for a 4 bed home.

Thanks -- Tony
