Hello! I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, so please forgive my laziness for not searching...

There's a possibility of a job offer in Harrisburg PA. I have family in Mountville PA. I want to live somewhere between - not too much of a daily commute to work and not too far from family.

It's just my husband and me and our two dogs. We'll be looking to spend about $125-130k and we'd prefer a detached single family with some yard space. We live in a townhome now, and would consider that as well.

We are concerned about safety/crime, but have no kids so schools aren't an issue. We'd love to consider a 55+ community but we're not old enough (hubby is 50).

Our dream home would have some land (say 5 acres or so) but I know we can't afford that. My husband dreams of a workspace for all his tools and I dream of a craft room. Our house is about 1200 sqft, we'd love something just a little bigger.

It's okay if the house needs some work, but nothing major. I've been out of work for six months and it's going to take us a little time to get on our feet again - especially in a new location.

Any suggestions for us?

Mt. Joy or Manheim Central, or even Middletown area might work for you. Up along 441 heading towards Middletown~there are several small village type communities outside Middletown. Not sure you'll get 5 acres, but there are houses within your price range that don't look like dumps.
