Husband works in Raritan, NJ and is looking for an under 1 hour commute into PA. We are looking for a quiet, close-knit community with good schools, recreation/sports programs, access to shopping and recreation without being in the middle of it, lots of small-town charm and homes on wooded lots and at least 1/2 acre for the kiddos to run around and play. Oh, and we have four children, so we need affordability - say homes under $360,000. Does such a place exist?

Best options for quick commute would be Yardley/Newtown area but I don't think it's very affordable. Also not much of a "town center" either. You could go over to Doylestown which does give you a small town feel but it will be a longer commute.

There is a community in NJ by the border off Rt 78 stewartsville that has homes in your price range that I lived in for 10 years. Great place in NJ! Warren county.

Give it a look. Commute down 78 to raritan is a bit of a bear BUT there are alternatives like rt 22 and back roads if accidents happen which they do on the interstate.
Look at realtor .com zip code 08886
