Nick here, was wondering if anyone knew of any legitimate haunted areas in central PA; Lewisburg, Selinsgrove, Milton areas. I know of a few reportedly haunted properties; The Slifer House, Lewisburg, PA, The Edison Hotel, Sunbury, PA (both very hard places to access due to owner unenthusiasm) I'm looking for somewhere where they arn't afraid to let you talk to their dead.

Sincerly,

You ever watch Paranormal State? Most of those locations are within a day trip of State College.

It's a show that follows a group of students from Penn State in search of evidence of paranormal phenomenon. I believe it's on The Biography Channel most afternoons around 5 or 6ish.

Just a suggestion, but Eastern State Penitentiary is probably the second most documented/investigated prison in America, after Alcatraz.

Plenty of places, a few of the well known.

Susquehanna University is very active.

see im looking more for a haphazard place to go to, instead of the traditional "permission befor entry" locations, i know of many graveyards, roads, and wooded areas to investigate but a nice facility or residence would be superb.

PennHurst would have been right up your alley before it was converted into a corny haunted house.

How about Amity Hall Hotel in Duncanon. As far as I know, it's abandoned and still standing.

The real hot bed for paranormal activity in PA is the Gettysburg battlefields. You should camp there overnight during summer. It's not a building, but there are tons of accounts of different crazy things happening.

The state school grounds in Selinsgrove which was originally called "The Eastern State Hospital for the Insane" back when it opened and had several name changes now it's just "Selinsgrove Center" had some abandoned buildings but still looked maintained, nothing like Pennhurst. They are up on the hill near the water towers, looks like security is lax at least if you walk around the outside and climb the tower

Here are some pics:

Selinsgrove Center - a set on Flickr

I know I saw some pictures of the insides of one of the buildings somewhere, but they might have been torn down after all these years?

I heard they tore down the Pennsylvania House factory in Lewisburg, would have been a good place to go in since it was quite old.

“Insane” is another term that is now banished from the vocabulary at a time when there are more of them than ever.
