Don't know where to go! (home, schools, live in)

Hello!
My boyfriend and I love PA, and travle there almost every time we have vacation. we are very interested in relocating there in about a year, so we're researchign now.... We live in western Long Island, NY currently and can't wait to leave! Too many people, too much traffic, too much crime, too much yuck! We're in our late 20's. so we're goign to be settling down, starting a family, etc, in the next few years. We're looking to move to an area which is in the eastern part of PA, maybe southeast. Any ideas as to somewhere close enough to make visits with family on NY driveable, great schools, couontry like area close enough to shopping (the usual grocery store, etc), affordable housing for families and lower crime. We also both work with law inforcement/govt (he's a cop, and i work for our local DSS although i would one day like to be a stay at home mom, which is why housing needs to be in a nice area and affordable), so i guess somewhere also which would have a relatively decent commute. Any ideas?! sorry for so much info/so many questions.....
