We are relocating early summer of 2007. My husband will be working in the Thurmont,MD area. I have been doing my best to research this area online, as I am stuck 6,000 miles away and won't be able to check it out in person for a couple of months. In searching for homes, I am foremost concerned with finding excellent schools. So far, I have only eliminated Hagerstown. But Frederick only seems to have townhouses in the under 300K range. I am really leaning towards the Waynesboro PA area..is this place as good as it looks? There is a good selection of houses, and the taxes seem lower, but how are the schools, shopping, and the travel to Thurmont? I would appreciate any info on on any of the towns in this area. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend the Gettysburg or Hanover area before anything in Franklin County. The schools will be better, plus closer to Thurmont. Gettysburg is a very easy commute to Thurmont right down Rt 15.
